Market News

Well today was a great day for the stock investors (the right stocks, of course) since the Dow rose nearly 900 points. Should we expect this spike to keep going up? I’m not holding my breathe quite yet.

There was a couple things that occured today. The White House released some news telling banks to stop hoarding money. They want the banks to carry on normal day to day loans and try to give out money to the people. Is this good news or just trying to put a band-aid on a wound without stiching it up? I’d say that banks should definitely be cautious–regardless of what the market is experiencing at the moment. One day good and one day bad… it seems like that’s what’s going on these days. I was joking around with my friend today telling him due to the huge spike we should put it in some orders with Ameritrade (my online stock broker) to short-sell tomorrow morning. Good laugh for 5 minutes, but I was actually pretty serious. That’s what I expect tomorrow… so lets see where we go.

Other financial news: There’s another rate cut expected by the feds. Earlier this month we got a rate cut and it helped the market a little. How will this affect tomorrows opening and closing? If we experienced growth today and there’s a rate cut tomorrow… will things get better tomorrow? Will I eat my words in regards to stock short selling? Well, we just have to see since we’ve been on a market roller coaster. I’ve had some penny stocks I invested in for kicks a couple months ago drop to .004… and have just been static for the last month. Those investments are pretty much dead to me… but some stronger stocks have just been jumping up and down.

Another article that I think would be interesting to write about is purpotrated stock averaging. This is pretty much buying at a price and when seeing prices drop, buying more to average out the higher stock price with the lower price (IE: Buying at 6, having a stock drop to 4 and then having your portfolio average at 5).

One more thing that I’ve actually been receiving quite a few e-mails about (will be adding a contact form to make things easier for some readers soon) is about other financial markets. I don’t really focus on other markets, but wow. Starting this blog earlier this month and experiencing the growth it has been through in regards with interaction with the few readers I’ve managed to scoop up recently has really impressed me. I created this blog primarily to just release some thoughts and talk about random financial aspects of our American economy, but some e-mails have got me interested in also watching other markets (such as the Japanese stock market). Will I branch out? Possibly… but I can’t really talk about other markets as well as the American market. I watch American financial news closely (waking up to MSNBC and other channels every morning), but other markets? We’ll just see about that. I’ll probably get in touch with some writers to see if anyone can dedicate some time to other markets… but that’s a great possbility of an awesome add-on to Finacial Bounce.

Well, that was a little release for the day. We’ll see what happens the rest of the week! Enjoy bouncing around with finances!
