He doesn’t even sit on any of the relevant committees.
Is he trying to lead us to believe that he is going to single-handedly fix the economy in ways that couldn’t be achieved by the hundreds of his Congressional colleagues?

Yes, he thinks we’re that stupid

I think he is trying to look good at a time when he is behind (and falling) in the polls. He wants to appear that America is his first priority, even at a possible detriment to himself and his presidential campaign.

Because he will have to as president. A lot of news outlets, even liberal ones, are defending McCain’s decision because Republicans are adamantly against bailing out these companies and imposing regulations. If McCain becomes the next president, he will be leading these Republicans, now is probably the best time to demonstrate that leadership skill to the party.
The fact that he doesn’t sit on those committees means he can’t vote, but that doesn’t prevent him from lobbying members of those committees to influence votes. Only a fool would believe he is single handedly fixing this, or that he is a major player, but he has the opportunity to plan an important role.

No he’s not. He’s offering a change to the same old business that the Democratic majority Congress got us into. He and every new President appoints their cabinet members. Did you miss that day in class or has the government controlled schools stopped teaching that?
