Financial Q&A

What did Bush specifically do to assist in ruining the economy? For an example give me some of the silly overspending that everyone’s talking about. And please provide sources.

Spent like a democrat trying to appease democrats not knowing they are ungrateful vultures thirsty for power who care nothing about the issues they exploit to get votes from their constituents. .

Over spending on military (two wars he wouldn’t finance). And he reduced taxes, during a time of war, which is insane from an economic stand point. He also allowed NINJA loans and preached every american should own a house, regardless if they can afford it or not.

Bush, personally? Nothing until he pushed for the first bailout bill which was a mistake. I would have liked to see spending reigned in but spending is Congress’ issue not the President’s. .

Lying about the WMD’s in Iraq so we’d go to war with them. Spending millions of dollars a month on that, for no purpose. My source: Do you really need one? It’s common sense and common knowledge.

Giving tax breaks to everyone, even though the country cannot afford it.

He also “allowed” things to happen, like allowed jobs to be sent overseas, jobs being lost here in America, and people losing money beacuse of this. He still allowed them to receive tax breaks, even though this was happening.

Not to mention, the bailouts, which went to companies who hardly used it for what it should have been used for.

    Just a few examples.

Ghost of Reagan: So, the war in Iraq, the bankruptcies, the huge welfare rate, all the jobs being sent overseas, the bailouts, ALL happened since January? M-hmm. I think your head has been up your @$$ for too long. Better get it out, it might start getting wrinkly.

He spent about 800 billion in Iraq and Afghanistan.

he expanded the government more than any other president through the creation of the department of homeland security.

continued deregulaiton of the economy caused major instability.

He sure didn’t even try to stop the ‘free houses’ thing. Gotta wonder why Greenspan visited that White House administration more than any other White House administration. Greenspan was supposedly ‘out of the loop’ when he was having tons of meetings with Cheney.
    Correct me if I’m wrong.

  7. Galen B Says:

He didn’t push hard enough to expose the problem. He should have pushed harder on the republicans and mention it on every speech he gave until it was known by everyone in the country.

  8. David K Says:

He lowered taxes on the super wealthy. He lowered the Capital Gains tax to 15%. He conducted an expensive war and lowered taxes in general. Historically lowering taxes in wartime leads to damaged economies.

He gave sweetheart deals to oil industry BTW they were literally in the bed with them. He increased farm and energy subsidies. He expanded government drastically including Dept of Homeland security, continuing research on weapons like Star Wars that have yet to work and was negligent in handling Katrina.

He undermined financial regulation, oversight in IRAQ, our economy. He failed to regulate derivatives and put a stooge in the SEC that was so lazy that he failed to show up for meetings on key events.

For goodness sakes he put the head of the Arabian Horse Associate as head of FEMA. He fired General Shinseki who correctly predicted the troop levels needed to hold Iraq.

Wow, 9 answers and 0 sources so far. So much for asking a serious question.

He radically overspent which seems a common practise in all his failed endeavours. Remember, that he ran the country out of money 5 times and 5 times had to go before congress to beg for a higher borrowing option.

The Illegal War On Iraq. It’s sad to see all this money wasted trying to get more profits for Big Oil. It’s like a feeding frenzy now with all the oil companies vying for their chunks of the Iraqi pie. Only select Iraqis will glean any value here.

He began the corporate welfare bailout without giving any though to the thousands of Americans going homeless. So, essentially he threw the money away. Can’t see that Obama is much better.

Wow, Thomas. What a great non-answer! Where’s your citations? A little shy of emails too! You’ve got it all, little brother.
